Canada is experiencing a significant skills and talent shortage with nearly 400,000 available jobs with one in 25 jobs in British Columbia unfilled as the Canadian economy starts to grow significantly.
According to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business ( CFIB ) there where 399,000 vacant jobs in Canada at the last quarter of 2017 an increase of 38,000 jobs or 10.5 percent.
A look through the provinces the vacancy rate figures are more startling
- British Columbia 3.9%
- Quebec 3.4%
- Ontario 3.2%
- New Brunswick 2.7%
- Alberta 2.4%
- Manitoba 2.3%
- Saskatchewan 2.3%
- Nova Scotia 2.0%
- Newfoundland 1.8%
- P.E.I 1.6%
These percentages relate to the number of jobs that remain unfilled in each province at the end of 2017 and indications for 2018 is that these figures have risen significantly throughout this year.
Canada is experiencing record low unemployment at around 5.8% this is the lowest nationwide rate seen in Canada since 1976.

The Canadian Government are introducing a range of measures to encourage inter province migration with limited success and clever new programmes such as the Atlantic Immigration Pilot in Atlantic Canada. However the skills and labour shortage is so acute that the need to reach out to Canadians overseas is now a top priority.
The Back 4 Good concept is to be rolled our overseas throughout 2019 with targeted campaigns in locations that have a strong Canadian Diaspora with a invitation to Canadians to return home to their own province, city or town.
