Back 4 Good is working on a number of exciting innovations that we hope will increase our platform and open up new ways of communicating between the diaspora and from Ireland to the diaspora .
We are working on a proposal to create a Diaspora digital TV channel which will broadcast through our platforms and will provide programmes such as news, current affairs, lifestyle education travel, fitness and documentaries produced by the diaspora .
We are looking to see if we can offer Diaspora TV through cable and satellite television along with including content from different providers including newspapers, magazines and radio .
It should be available on smartphone, Tablet. laptop and Desktop .
Our research will also look at broadcasting times as our platform is live 24/7 we need to take into account timezones for interactions that we plan to offer on Diaspora TV.
The viewership for Diaspora TV is potentially significant with estimates around the size of the Irish community varying , it is estimated that there are over one million Irish people living abroad today spread across the following countries
. Britain
. USA
. Australia
. Canada
. France
. Belgium
. Spain
. Netherlands
. Italy
. Sweden
among the top 10 countries .
With over 3 million Irish passport holders abroad the key potential audience figure is the 70 million people who claim Irish ancestry
. 34.7 million reported Irish ancestry in the USA
. 5 million UK citizens have one or 2 Irish parents in the UK.
. In Canada nearly 3 million claim a link to Ireland
. Australia 1.8 million reported Irish ancestry which is 9% of the population
. Argentina has about 400,000 Irish descendants
For many years now the Irish abroad community have continually looked for information about developments in Ireland as it happened and in realtime now with digital technologies we may be ready to provide them with their own platform in realtime and with full interaction.
We will keep you advised on developments in the space and should you wish to get involved or make a contribution to the research contact greg@project.blueberry.ie
