Ireland’s leading Publicans call for Government to support drive to bring emigrants home
One of the country’s leading Publicans has called for Government support for initiatives to bring home Irish workers home for good.
Louis Fitzgerald whose group runs 20 pubs and 2 hotels employing 950 people mostly in the Dublin area including heritage pubs Kehoes and The Stag’s Head ( recently voted pub of the year ) has said ” I would like to see a signal going out to entice them home ….a lot of really good staff have emigrated – we were expecting them back but they are not coming back ”
Mr Fitzgerald call follows similar calls in a number of key sectors including Construction, Phara,Healthcare and Hospitality .
Back 4 Good have submitted detailed proposals to Government on how to attract home these workers including a comprehensive action plan incorporating staff within Government Departments engaging in placement of Back 4 Good registrants on a county by county basis .
Back 4 Good the key initiative in his space has seen a surge in registrations online in the 4 weeks that the initiative has gone live with over 25,000 people expressing an interest in returning home .
The Back 4 Good county strategy which aims to bring people home to their own town, village or city is a winner with huge interest from returnees .
Ireland needs to move fast skills shortages are acute and some businesses in the Hospitality sector can’t open additional restaurants or extra accommodation due to a shortage of skilled workers .
