Back 4 Good are delighted with todays latest report from the Irish Central Statistics Office which show that the number of persons in employment ( 2,256,500 ) is the highest on record .
We are particularly please that the Population and Migration estimates for April 2018 show inward migration of just over 90,000, of whom 28,400 are returning Irish Nationals .
Our campaign, now in its second year has focused on bringing skilled professionals back to each county, town and village in Ireland and this strategy is rural redevelopment in action.
Employment was up in Ireland by 3.4% or 74,100 to 2,255,000 in the year to Q2 2018 and unemployment was down 10.1% or 16,200 to 144,300 in the year to Q2 2018 seening a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 5.8% .
The number of immigrants into Ireland in the year to April 2018 is estimated to have increased by 6.7% to 84,600 to 90,300 while the number of emigrants declined over the same period from 64,800 to 56,300 ( -13% ) resulting in the highest level of net migration since 2008.
What is very pleasing for innovative programmes such as Back 4 Good -Your future in Ireland is that 31.5% of the people who immigrated to Ireland in the year to April 2018 are returning Irish Nationals who have made informed decisions to return home to live and work in their own Town,City or village inline with the Back 4 Good strategy.
Another interesting finding of todays report with rates to the skill level of Non-Irish Nationals who come to live in Ireland is that 49,000 + ( 61.7% ) aged 15+ had a 3rd Level qualification .
