Todays report by Daft.ie is a source of great concern for people who wish to live and work in Ireland .
Daft say that rents rose by an average of 11.7% in the year to September. This is the largest annual. Increase in rents ever recorded in the Daft.ie report which began in 2002 .
The report says there have been double -digit rent rises in 37 of the 54 markets nalysed .This is up from just 17 markets as recently as late 2015 .
The report warns that this is having a ” disastrous effect ” on Irish competitiveness as well as social cohesion .
in addition at € 1,077 in the third quarter of the year ,the average monthly rent is at an all time high .
This news is a unwelcome development and makes it much more difficult for returnees to consider Ireland and in particular the big cities in Ireland as an option ,it puts huge pressure on employers and the type of packages they offer which will have to increase to meet this increase in rents on a monthly basis .
Back 4 Good has as its focus a county by county strategy which aims to address some of these costs and the Government now needs to step up to the plate and start to implement this strategy before Ireland suffers greatly in terms of potential job losses and economic growth .
