Its official this weeks Web Summitt is sold out at its new home in Portugal with waiting lists and 100s of investors and innovators on stand by to do mega business .

The lost opportunities to Ireland will only become more clear over the next number of years as it appears that the new location has allowed Paddy Cosgrave and his team to expand the event significantly .

The  departure of the Web Summit from Dublin resulted in significant depression here in the capital among those of us who are always presenting ” big ideas ” to the powers that be here in Ireland .

The Lisbon event will be attended by officials from the IDA and Enterprise Ireland  who wil be selling Ireland Inc as THE home for innovators however the first question they will be asked is why the allowed this excellent example of creativity to leave Dublin .

Innovators ,creators and risk takers need to be supported and encouraged and this event  in Lisbon will highlight our short comings in that regard .
