Pay rise for Nurses to address staff shortages ?

The Nurses Union of Ireland has said that significant pay increases and benefits are essential if Ireland is to compete with other countries and retain its trained staff and hire additional nurses and medical professionals that are required to ensure that the Health service meets increasing demands from clients on a daily basis .

Meanwhile Back 4 Good has received requests from overseas Health Authorities  to use the Back 4 Good brand in campaigns to hire nurses for other competitor countries .

The INIMO is to begin pay talks with the Government in May in an effort to try and solve the critical staffing crisis in Irish hospitals .

The Nurses union says that only a significant increase in wages will allow Ireland to compete with other countries to both hire and retain nurses .

The move to hold talks comes as hospital emergency departments outside of Dublin were plunged even deeper into chaos with record numbers of patients being treated on trolleys in Cork,Limerick and Galway.

While the HSE are offering incentives for healthcare staff overseas their efforts to date have failed and the lack of coordination in its recruitment campaigns has resulted in little take -up .

The worldwide nursing shortage, with the World Health Organisation reporting a shortage of 4.3million healthcare workers globally means that Irish nurses can obtain employment anywhere in the world .

The HSE has failed to sustain an adequate nursing workforce which is fundamental to all Health care systems and of course to the quality of patient care .

Innovative campaigns such as Back 4 Good with its unique approach to bringing nurses back home to their own town, village and county give Ireland an edge in the talent battle .

Back 4 Good has received a number of requests to bring its concept and brand to other locations who are competing with Ireland for healthcare workers, these locations clearly believe that the concept is a winner and can assist in securing skilled professionals .
