Director of Nursing (DON)

Location: Galway, Ireland

Reports To: Nursing Home Administrator / Senior Management

Role Overview:

The Director of Nursing (DON) will lead the clinical operations of the nursing home, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care in compliance with HIQA standards. This role involves strategic planning, staff management, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clinical Leadership: Oversee all nursing services, ensuring best practices in patient care.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to HIQA standards and other relevant regulations.
• Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise nursing staff, fostering professional development.
• Quality Assurance: Implement quality improvement initiatives and monitor clinical outcomes.
• Budget Oversight: Manage the nursing department’s budget, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to coordinate comprehensive care plans. 

Qualifications:

• Education: Registered Nurse with active NMBI registration.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a senior nursing management role within the last 6 years, preferably in elder care.
• Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Knowledge: In-depth understanding of HIQA standards and elder care
