Job Title: Senior Cybersecurity Expert

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cybersecurity Expert to join our team. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing robust cybersecurity frameworks. You will be responsible for safeguarding our organisation’s digital assets, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and leading incident response efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Security Strategy & Governance: Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures in line with ISO 27001, GDPR, NIS Directive, and other relevant regulations.
  • Risk Management: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests to identify and mitigate security threats.
  • Incident Response: Lead cyber incident investigations, including forensic analysis, breach containment, and post-incident reporting.
  • Security Architecture: Design and oversee secure network infrastructures, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), SIEM solutions, and endpoint protection.
  • Compliance & Audits: Ensure adherence to EU and Irish data protection laws, and coordinate internal/external security audits.
  • Security Awareness: Deliver training programmes to staff on cybersecurity best practices, phishing awareness, and secure data handling.
  • Threat Intelligence: Monitor emerging cyber threats, zero-day vulnerabilities, and advanced persistent threats (APTs), adjusting defences accordingly.
  • Cloud Security: Manage security for multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), ensuring secure configurations and Identity & Access Management (IAM) policies.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, information security, or IT risk management.
  • Deep expertise in network security, encryption, PKI, and secure coding practices.
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, ArcSight), EDR/XDR solutions, and vulnerability management tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys).
  • Strong knowledge of GDPR, PCI DSS, Cyber Essentials, and other compliance frameworks.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, OSCP, or CRISC are highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to respond to cybersecurity incidents under pressure.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring junior team members.

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience in financial services, healthcare, or critical infrastructure sectors.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps and integrating security into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of threat hunting and red team/blue team exercises.
