Job Title: Staff Nurses

Job Purpose:

The Staff Nurse will deliver high-quality, patient-centred care in accordance with the standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients, ensuring best practices in line with NMBI guidelines.
  • Conduct patient assessments, develop care plans, and monitor progress.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed.
  • Monitor and record patient vital signs, symptoms, and responses to treatment.
  • Assist with diagnostic tests, procedures, and surgeries as required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with legal and hospital policies.

Patient & Family Support:

  • Educate patients and families on health conditions, treatments, and preventive care.
  • Offer emotional support and ensure a compassionate approach to care.
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and dignity in all interactions.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with doctors, allied health professionals, and other nurses to deliver integrated care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case reviews.
  • Supervise and mentor junior nurses, healthcare assistants, and student nurses.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Adhere to infection control protocols and health & safety regulations.
  • Follow hospital policies, procedures, and NMBI’s Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Report incidents, near misses, and risks to the appropriate personnel.

Professional Development:

  • Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) to maintain NMBI registration.
  • Attend training sessions, workshops, and mandatory updates.
  • Stay informed on advancements in nursing practice and evidence-based care.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Qualifications: Registered General Nurse (RGN) or relevant specialization (e.g., RNID, RMHN, RCN) with active NMBI registration.
  • Experience: Previous clinical experience in a hospital or healthcare setting (new graduates may be considered for certain roles).
  • Skills:
    • Strong clinical and decision-making abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Competency in electronic patient record systems.
  • Eligibility to Work in Ireland: Valid visa (if applicable) and NMBI PIN.

Desirable:

  • Experience in [specific specialty, e.g., ICU, ED, Paediatrics].
  • Additional certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, wound care).
  • Proficiency in a second language (e.g., Polish, French, Arabic).
