Government concern at Central Bank Skills Shortages

Finance Minister Michael Noonan has admitted that the Central Bank of Ireland who want to recruit an extra 170 staff in 2017 are already struggling to compete with the private sector for the talent it needs .

Insurance companies in the private sector are also struggling to find talent in key areas and this situation will only get worst as UK and Global Insurers are considering moving their Headquarters from London to Dublin .

There is a shortage of general insurance actuaries today and this shortage will become critical post Brexit.

With salaries rising, the annual survey of actuarial pay for 2015 showed the first year of consistent pay inflation .

Minister Noonan told the Irish Parliament that the Irish Central Bank want to increase staff numbers by by nearly 10% next year with at least 28 of those new hires working directly on Brexit with additional staff drafted in for Brexit work as required .

However the Minister admitted that the Central Bank had experienced difficulties in hiring and retaining staff due to the acute skills shortage in the Financial and Legal sectors .

The Minister failed to confirm if the Government would lift the pay caps introduced during the financial crisis which are now an impediment to recruitment .Central Bank staff can expect to earn between 10 and 30 per cent less than they would in the private sector .

These staff shortages are resulting in a slow down in processing licence applications .It can now take up to 2 years for the le ensign process and a back log will develop should the anticipated increase in licence applications take place as a result of Brexit .

If you are interested in working in the Central Bank of Ireland or have an interest in working in the Insurance industry register with Bavk 4 Good today we have many partners in this sector looking to talk to you .

Users flock to Talent Platform -Back 4 Good -Your future in Ireland

Back 4 Good the new online platform targeting skilled professionals from overseas has just exceeded 30,000 users in the first month since the site was rolled out live .

The platform has a number of key differences that set it apart from standard   job boards and recruitment agencies websites .

Users are spread across the Globe with interesting interactions from New Zealand Australia and Asia .Each sector is covered on the site and the site is driven by providing content that is of interest to passive professionals .

Back 4 Good has figured out what users want with this new platform and the county by county Talent strategy is attracting significant interest among the Irish abroad who wish to return home to their own town village or city .

According to its creator Gregory Craig the site and campaign have exceeded his original targets ” we built the brand at street level through clever social media and went live last month, our targets in month one have exceeded my expectations , our focus on a county by county strategy is a winner ,it makes no sense to attempt to try and encourage people to live and work in Ireland by a focus on Dublin all the time, opportunities are now available in many towns and cities throughout Ireland and we intend to develop our online county talent  registers to meet the demand from employers both private and state ” These registers will be a valuable resource for agencies such as the IDA and Enterprise Ireland and are rural redevelopment inaction

The platform is looking for state involvement as the user numbers expand ” there is a lot of spare capacity in the Department of Social Protection now that unemployment is at 7% ,the Department still has the same placement staff that were there when unemployment was at 17%, we are looking for these expert skilled staff to work on our county strategy and become active in matching and placing the users on our platform into positions with employers  in each town and village in Ireland ” said Craig .

Ireland needs a consolidated program to bring together all overseas Talent programs into one platform This approach is cost effective and measured and will deliver results by expanding Ireland’s Talent Pool  and fill many unfilled roles in all sectors .

If you want to become  involved in promoting  opportunities in your county or if you want to fill that difficult to fill  role  in your firm contact Back 4 Good today .
